Our Mission

The Asia Lighting Compact (ALC) is dedicated to the promotion of quality, energy-efficient lighting as a means of promoting economic prosperity, energy security, and climate protection for Asia.

The ALC was founded to:

  • Promote and support regional and international efforts to harmonize lighting quality and energy efficiency standards in order to reduce barriers to trade, improve product quality, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in Asia.
  • Promote and support regional and international efforts to harmonize test procedures, data-sharing, and foster ways to mutually recognize test results for lighting products across nations.
  • Promote a quality system for integrated compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and other energy-efficient lighting products as the organization sees fit.
  • Implement and administer a performance marking system for the identification of quality, efficient lighting products.
  • Develop, implement and manage the Asian Quality Registry - a system for on-line reporting and tracking of quality, efficient lighting products.

The ALC works with like-minded organizations and groups in the region, both in the public and private sectors who work to address issues concerning standards and test methodologies harmonization, product quality, lighting efficiency, lighting education, and climate change.
